Success of the Exhibition: Impressionism in France and Europe
Located at the foot of the Quercy hillsides in France, the Moissac site has been labeled a town of Art and History since 2012… It is built around its Romanesque monastery whose cultural, political and economic influence has favored development and universal fame…
The site is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela. The city has decided to honor the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition (Paris 1874) by hosting from August 12 to 28, 2024 the Impressionist Exhibition proposed by the European Network Impressionisms Routes©, certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday August 13, 2024 in the presence of Loïc Lepreux and those responsible for Culture and Heritage of the town of Moissac and Georges Lucenet, Vice- President and General Delegate of the European Impressionnisms Routes network, journalists and of a large audience… The Church of Saint-Jacques de Moissac is a perfect setting for the presentation of the Impressionist Movement in France and Europe: the Route des Impressionismes/Chemins de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle crossroads is thus highlighted!
