They signed their paintings: “Student of the Tervuren School”, thus affiliating themselves with the Barbizon School. After a difficult beginning, Tervuren’s realistic paintings met with success from 1872. Painters of peasant life and landscapes of the Soignes forest, they opened the way to Impressionism!
