InfoFlash N°103 – BOUGIVAL: Impressionist Walks, May 7 to September 7, 2026
The town of Bougival, a major center of Impressionism in the Île-de-France region, is celebrating the centenary of the death of Claude Monet, a leading figure of Impressionism, with a temporary exhibition at the Maison Berthe Morisot.
From May 7 to September 7, 2026, the museum, whose permanent collection is dedicated to the first female Impressionist painter, will host the exhibition “Impressionist Walks… In the Footsteps of Monet, Morisot, and Hoschedé,” an invitation to explore the landscapes that inspired these artists. Conceived as a sensory journey, the exhibition brings into dialogue the works and perspectives of Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot and Blanche Hoschedé, revealing how each captured the light, movement, and emotion of their outdoor strolls.
The exhibition guides visitors through the landscape of Impressionist emotions. Countryside and gardens, rivers with changing reflections become scenes where observation and poetry combine, a light touch responds to a colorful vibration, a quick gesture to a vaporous atmosphere.
Conceived as an artistic stroll, this presentation also underscores the importance of the female voice within Impressionism, highlighting Berthe Morisot and Blanche Hoschedé, figures often less publicized than their male contemporaries but equally essential.
“Impressionist Strolls” invites visitors to follow the artists in these suspended moments where light becomes narrative. An immersion in the Impressionist spirit, at the very heart of the house where one of its greatest exponents lived and worked.
