The town of Bougival, a major center of Impressionism in the Île-de-France region, is celebrating the centenary of the death of Claude Monet, a leading figure of Impressionism, with a temporary exhibition at the Maison Berthe Morisot.

Georges LUCENET, Vice- President and General Manager of the Impressionisms Routes© network, a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, was also present at the event.

The exhibition invites visitors to follow in the footsteps of Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, and Blanche Hoschedé. Lights and colours reign supreme, poetry is born of the moment as always in the world of Impressionism… The Impressionisms Routes© network, a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, is happy and proud to support this magnificent exhibition.

BOUGIVAL: Exhibition Impressionnist Walks… In the footsteps of Monet, Morisot, Hoschedé

The exhibition ‘Impressionist Walks… In the Footsteps of Monet, Morisot and Hoschedé’ invites visitors to explore the landscapes that inspired these artists. Conceived as a sensory stroll, the exhibition brings together the works and perspectives of Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot and Blanche Hoschedé, revealing how each captured the light, movement and emotion of a walk in the open air.

The exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through Impressionist emotions. Countryside and gardens, rivers with shifting reflections become scenes where observation and poetry come together; a light touch responds to a vibrant splash of colour, a swift brushstroke to a misty atmosphere.

Conceived as an artistic stroll, this exhibition also highlights the importance of the female touch within Impressionism, shining a spotlight on Berthe Morisot and Blanche Hoschedé—figures often less celebrated than their male contemporaries, yet just as essential to the Impressionist movement.
“Impressionist Walks” invites visitors to follow the artists into these suspended moments where light becomes narrative. An immersion in the Impressionist spirit, at the very heart of the house where one of its greatest representatives lived and worked.
