Le port de Saint-Tropez, Paul Signac - 1901/1902
Le port de Saint-Tropez, Paul Signac - 1901/1902

Saint-Tropez joins the IR network

As a mythical village and port in the Mediterranean, Saint-Tropez has been, since the end of the 19th century, a land of inspiration for artists. Its natural assets first earned it the favor of painters, with Signac, but also Matisse, Marquet, Camoin and many others… Then writers like Maupassant, Colette or Boris Vian celebrated it before the cinema incense and make it known throughout the world in particular through the talent of Roger Vadim and Brigitte Bardot.

Today, and far beyond the popular attraction of the city of Bailli de Suffren, Art and Culture are constantly expressed in Saint-Tropez with the remarkable Exhibitions of the Musée de l'Annonciade and the summer music and dance festivals… The Signac network, being created within Impressionisms Routes and placed under the management of the city of Asnières-sur-Seine, will fully benefit from the major asset of the active participation of one of the world's tourism capitals.

Association "les Artistes du bout du Monde"

Grez sur Loing (France)

The site of Grez-sur-Loing, located near Barbizon in the south-east of Paris, was discovered by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot in the early 1860s. It is the very example of the international artists colony  who wish to put highlighting both the Routes of Impressionism in Europe and our partner euroArt.

We therefore particularly welcome the arrival of the Association "Les Artistes du Bout du Monde", in charge of promoting the site, in 2019 within the Impressionisms Routes Network, Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.

The first American and British colonies arrived in Grez in 1870 and were followed by the famous Scandinavian colonies, well known in particular through the works of the Swedish Karl Nordström or Carl Larsson. The Japanese themselves came to Grez in the 1890s.

The Association "Artistes du Bout du Monde" aims to identify the artists who have resided in Grez-sur-Loing and the works they have produced there, to publicize their history and to be in contact with museums. and the cultural spaces that promote the painters of Grez-sur-Loing.

The day of March 21, 2020 (see herewith) will make it possible to concretize this will to promote a site and a colony of exceptional artists within the framework of the European activities of Impressionisms Routes.
